BCore Disc is the main independent spanish label focused on hardcore-punk DIY culture. In active since 1990, it has relased almost all of spanish hardcore bands in its earliest period, and through the years it has opened its style range to all indie rock tendencies, from the poppier Les Philippes to the post-rock of Coconot passing through Tokyo Sex Destruction's garage, Madee's emo, Standstill's vanguardist post-hardcore, The Unfinished Sympathy's melodic rock or Delorean's electronics. Considered one of the most influential all-time spanish independent labels not only in Spain but worldwide.
The history of BCore Disc starts in 1990, with the edition of the first record by the band Corn Flakes, from Barcelona, called "No Problem". At this begginning there was no intention of starting a label; just the interest in giving an opportunity to something that had no issue at the time. Previously, we had been distributing demos, records and t-shirts, so we had a litte experience in that, and a small audience interested in what was happening around in the underground Barcelona scene.
The following editions were just a natural consequence of the first, recovering the investment for the first record and re-investing it for the second, and so on. Then we realized that BCore was a bit more than a simple hobby. It became a small label with a very specific line and style and with a small basis of fans. Mouth to mouth was the only way of communication at that time; no promo, no advertisments.
It was one of the few labels runned in Barcelona, putting out shows by ourselves, editing our own releases, doing our own designs and distributing our stuff through small mailorders. We've always focused in having total control on what happens around our label and bands, taking care of them in a very close and friendly relationship, like a kind of big family as some might say. Posters, sleeves, t-shirts designs, mailorder, bookings, all made in the odd DIY style... though strongly supported by a couple of "media" that always were by our side: "Reptil Zine " and "Atac de Core" at clandestine Radio Pica.
Nowadays the thing has obviously grown in size, but not in attitude. We've been learning a bit through the years about how the musical business works, and feell kinda proud to keep on working in a totally independent way, organizing our own tours in our new Management Department, choosing freely the bands we want to work with and taking care of sleeves, recordings, posters and t-shirts as we've always done.
All this has created a small but strong independent scene in Spain, and has made us be day by day a bit more renouned in Europe and around the world. Since now on, BCore is the first spanish independent label to have its whole catalog uploaded on the internet to be bought through worldwide music download stores: iTunes Music Store, Napster, MSN.com and other several download sites. That includes all of the CDs released by BCore during 15 years of career, including all of the current catalog and also all the out-of-press releases (Corn Flakes, Fromheadtotoe, Xmilk, All ill, etc). There is also the possibility of downloading songs that had never been digitalized before, like all vinyl LPs and singles and Demo Tapes. This way, the people worldwide will have the chance to have a quick and cheap access to any song ever released by BCore, something that never happened before in spanish indie labels' history. We hope you enjoy listening to everything that you could never listen to b fore.
